COLLEGE STUDENTS

Many college students say they are hopeful but not confident about their job prospects. Does this describe you? If you don’t feel confident, maybe you’re not getting the support you need from your on-campus career center.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the job-search process? As you look for an internship or a job while keeping up with your classwork, papers, exams, and extracurricular activities, do you feel the pressure of balancing it all?

Conducting a job search can be time-consuming. Do you have a plan for how you’ll manage?

We can help.

RECENT COLLEGE GRADUATES

The college-to-career transition is an exciting time, one that’s full of new opportunities and challenges. As exciting as it is, though, launching your career can also be nerve-wracking and unpredictable.

Many new graduates will leave campus without a job. If they have a job, they may be underemployed, or simply wish their day-to-day work allowed them to more actively use their college degrees and the skills and knowledge they gained during school.

When you are away from campus, many of the career center resources are less accessible or not available.

PARENTS

Parents want the best for their children, and this life milestone—the moment when a son or daughter leaves the educational nest to enter a new realm of self-sufficiency—is a momentous time. It’s not uncommon for a parent to wonder how much help to offer as their son or daughter enters “the real world.”

How do you support your son’s or daughter’s job search without overstepping? How do you encourage his or her efforts without taking over? How do you provide advice to a newly independent graduate while demonstrating respect for your child’s adult status?

We can help.

College Students

Have you visited your college career center for support with your internship or job search? No? You’re not alone. According to a national poll, 39% of college students never visit their career services office, while 61% of college students say the career center is never or rarely effective at helping them land a job.

If you are using your college career center to find a job or internship …

  • Has the career center been efficient and effective?

  • Are you getting all of the support you need at each stage of your search?

  • Is your campus career-services staff available by phone or video-chat at times that are convenient for you?

  • Do you have a detailed job-search plan that keeps you on track and fosters confidence in the outcome?

If you answered "no" to any of these questions, Career Ready Coaching can help.

Recent Graduates

If you are still looking for your first job after college, you may be asking yourself, Where do I begin now that I’ve left campus? Am I really ready to submit my resume, impress hiring executives in interviews, and choose a job that’s right for me?

If you already have a job, you may be wondering, Am I on the right career path? Am I using my education to my best advantage? Am I being appropriately compensated for my skills and experience?

These are essential questions—and we can help you answer them.

It’s an unfortunate fact that 41% of recent college graduates are unemployed or underemployed. Are you in that 41%? Maybe you accepted a job that provides a steady paycheck and benefits—but you aren’t passionate about the work. Or, maybe you have a job that makes the most of your skills and your interests—but it doesn’t cover your bills.

Getting a great job after graduation, one that provides a sustainable income and fulfilling and meaningful work is your highest goal. If you’re not meeting that goal now, how can you change course so you can follow your passions and achieve your full financial potential?

Career Ready Coaching offers one-to-one guidance to help you …

Parents of college students
& recent graduates

This is a major transition for your adult child—and for you. By identifying your role in your son’s or daughter’s job search, and by clarifying boundaries and expectations for your involvement, you can avoid conflict with your new graduate and help launch their career, all while preserving your loving relationship.

If your son or daughter worked with an academic tutor, an SAT/ACT prep tutor, or a college admissions counselor during their high school years, you already understand the benefits of having someone other than you guiding your soon-to-be or recent graduate. Providing your adult child with reliable, expert support and resources is the best gift a parent can offer during the biggest transition of a child’s life.

College-age adults want to establish their independence and demonstrate their ability to conduct their lives with agency. How do you encourage your son’s or daughter’s efforts without being perceived as overstepping? How do you provide advice while preserving your family relationship?

Career Ready Coaching …

  • Provides all the objective advice and expert guidance your son or daughter will need, setting you free to support your son or daughter without pressure or conflict

  • Delivers an objective assessment of your adult child’s career readiness in light of employer expectations

  • Coaches your student or graduate to identify, acquire, and practice critical career skills to launch their career successfully

  • Provides quality, individualized support that most college career centers are simply not able to offer
